Tummy Tuck for Men
For many males, maintaining an attractive abdomen is easier said than done. Even after following strict diet and exercise regimens, men are often left with results that are less than satisfactory. To noticeably improve their midsection and achieve a flatter stomach, tummy tuck surgery is typically desired. Also known as “abdominoplasty,” this cosmetic procedure can give men the toned midsection that was previously unattainable.
Candidates for Tummy Tuck Surgery
Abdominoplasty is an individualized procedure that patients should undergo for themselves, not to fulfill the desires of others. Ideally, candidates for tummy tuck surgery are:
- In good overall health
- At a stable weight
- Realistic about the outcome
- Self-conscious about the appearance of their abdomen
A tummy tuck can effectively improve the following conditions in the abdominal area:
Loose or hanging skin
Stretch marks on the lower abdomen
Weak abdominal muscles
Tummy Tuck Procedure
To make the patient as comfortable as possible, general anesthesia will be administered before the surgery begins.
Incisions will be placed under and/or above the belly button, depending on the regions of the abdomen that need to be addressed (during a personalized consultation, patients will be informed about the specific areas that will be targeted). The underlying muscles are tightened, and excess fat and skin are removed.
The incisions are closed using a combination of sutures and adhesive bandages.
